After the Revolution of Dignity, Ukrainian youth received a voice at the highest level of diplomacy. The program of Ukrainian Youth Delegate to the United Nations was established in 2014 by the Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Foundation. For six years in a row, two young people have been representing our country at the United Nations General Assembly. This year, that role was awarded to Nargis Mokhd from Odesa and Roman Tymotsko from Lviv. (more…)

Nargis Mohd and Roman Tymotsko represents Ukrainian youth on the UN General Assembly in New York (2019). They were selected as Ukrainian Youth Delegates to the UN 2019-2020 on August 30th by the representatives from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Family Foundation and Ukrainian youth delegates to the UN (2017-2018, 2018-2019). More than 1 300 people from various parts of Ukraine and abroad have joined the Responsibility Marathon. Together, they have planted over 5 000 sunflowers of the Bohdan Hawrylyshyn variety, which was bred on the initiative of the “MIM-Kyiv” Business School for Bohdan Hawrylyshyn’s 90-year anniversary in 2016.

On June 7, in the city of Kaniv on Taras’s Hill, an awards ceremony was held during the International Ukrainian ID Forum to present the winners of the annual Ukrainian ID Awards prize. Awards were presented to the Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Family Foundation, Kateryna Handziuk and Illya Bondarenko.

The first stage of the program Young Generation Will Change Ukraine – 2019 (YGWCU-2019), organized by the Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Family Foundation, has finally been completed. Participants took part in local development projects, which included one and a half months of training in communications, media handling, project management, marketing and, creative thinking. They reported that the training flew by and are keen to put their skills to good use in new initiatives across Ukraine.

On 15-16 June 2018, in Vinnytsia, Zaporizhia, Poltava, Ternopil, Chernihiv and Cherkasy the second module of the educational part of ‘Young Generation Will Change Ukraine’ regional program was held. Talked about challenges and potentials of cities, discussed the strategy for their development, searched creative solutions for local development, listened about managing projects and fundraising, in order the participants of the program might use this knowledge in structuring their ideas and their presentations in two weeks.

On the day of the official presentation of the Foundation 1 November 2017, there was another very significant event in Shevchenko Park: the stone established by family in honor of Bohdan Hawrylyshyn was opened. The famous quote by Bohdan Dmytrovych is carved on the stone: ‘Learn, dream, act’. And oak planted near stone, symbolizing Ukrainian origin of Mr Bohdan and his values and ideas promotion in the world.

19 October of this year, would have been Bohdan Hawrylyshyn’s ninety first birthday!
To celebrate this occasion, the participants of ‘Young Generation Will Change Ukraine’ program launched by Mr Bohdan in 2012, held a symbolic Memorial Event and planted flowers around the stone and oak of Bohdan Hawrylyshyn that appeared in Shevchenko Park thanks to the efforts of family of the great Ukrainian.
The official ceremony of presentation of stone and tree is scheduled for 1 November 2017.
